The most commonly used dermal filler is hyaluronic acid, which is also the filler I mainly use. Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in the body and helps maintain hydration and volume in the skin. In the skin, natural hyaluronic acid is broken down and renewed approximately every two days. When used as a dermal filler, hyaluronic acid is specially modified to last for up to a year or longer. One key advantage of hyaluronic acid fillers is that they can be safely dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers typically last up to a year or longer, depending on the amount used, the area treated, and the patient’s metabolism. In more mobile areas, such as the lips, the effects usually last 6 to 9 months. In areas like the cheeks and tear troughs, when injected at the correct depth, results can last up to 2 years.
I always give a very small numbing injection before starting, which makes the procedure much more comfortable. Additionally, the dermal filler I use already contains a numbing solution, which further helps to minimize any discomfort.
Hyaluronic acid is a safe substance that naturally occurs in human skin. When administered by a qualified and experienced medical professional, such as myself, dermal fillers are considered safe. Problems can arise when they are used by inexperienced individuals who rely solely on needles instead of cannulas and lack a thorough understanding of facial anatomy.
Dermal fillers can be used in the following areas of the face:
Cheeks
Tear troughs (under-eye area)
Nasolabial folds
Marionette lines
Jawline & chin
Temples
Nose
Common side effects may include temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site. These usually resolve within a few days. Any rare risks will be discussed in detail during your consultation. Due to my experience, I have never encountered any of these rare complications.
Results are visible immediately with the final result becoming more apparent once any initial minor swelling subsides.
My approach focuses on subtle, natural-looking results that enhance your features while maintaining facial balance. Every treatment is tailored to the individual and fully discussed before any procedure begins.
The cost of dermal fillers varies depending on the type of filler, treatment area, and amount of filler required. A personalized treatment plan and full pricing will be provided during your consultation.
Before treatment, you may be advised to avoid certain medications or supplements, such as fish oils. After treatment, most patients can return to normal activities the same day, with specific aftercare guidance provided to support optimal results.
